Schools start again and holidaymakers return sun-tanned. To all holidaymakers: Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed it.

Now that the holiday season ends, the wedding season starts again. For years I have had the habit of not going on vacation during the summer. On the one hand to give Dad the opportunity and space to relax in Morocco (although it strikes me that he continues to work there too) and on the other hand because I can intensely enjoy ‘the calm before the storm’. Since God blessed the Netherlands this year with lovely sunny days (the people who stayed at home know exactly what I’m talking about), I even enjoyed it even more this summer. For us, just like for other services that work in or around the wedding industry, the summer period is often the only period when you don’t have extreme deadlines and there are fewer people than during the rest of the year.

For us, the summer is therefore the ideal period to, for example, reflect on the past year, come up with new things or focus on the new developments that are already on the schedule. Summer 2018 was all about Kaftan Fes Bridal Styling for us. Yes, you read it right! Kaftan Fes will also start bridal styling from now on. Why!? Very simple; because you asked us.

For years we have welcomed brides who like to have their own dresses designed and sewn. Happy brides who have a particular dress in mind that they would like to see realized. There is something special about being of service to a bride. Not that I don’t like making dresses for other customers any less. But the feeling that you are making an important contribution to one of the most beautiful and important days in a person’s life carries with it a certain kind of charm.

“It’s a shame you don’t do bridal styling. Then I wouldn’t have to look for someone else for my hair and make-up.” I think we’ve heard it at least 10 times. It must have been once too many because one day my sister Kawtar spoke to me. She said it was actually quite absurd that we make wedding dresses but don’t offer full styling. “I mean through all those photo shoots we’ve built up a pretty good network of make-up artists and hairstylists that we can work with. Making wedding dresses is not something that is strange to us and if the brides already have dresses made by us, it is nice that they will not have to look any further when it comes to make-up and hair? Plus we can also offer packages to the brides who don’t want to have their own dresses made, but want to get married in a Kaftan Design dress.” She spoke a little too quickly. A quality of hers that comes to the fore when she is genuinely enthusiastic about something.

“It really kept me awake last night. And the more I think about it, the more logic it gets.” And it turns out that she really didn’t mind when she flooded me with a long list of arguments about why we should expand and how she saw the effect for her. I have to admit, the longer I listened to her, the more it made sense. She had unique ideas that clearly showed that she had really thought from the bride’s perspective. “We make sure that the bride gets a separate make-up artist and a separate hairstylist. And how about a matching men’s line? We can design the dresses and the suits in such a way that it becomes a perfect picture. In addition to a suit, we can also offer a groom’s jelleba line that matches the dress. Also customized and to taste! A total package: for him and for her!”

I think that last one in particular caught my attention. A new challenge! Something that can be made possible by daddy, but could still be her and my thing. “Kawtar I think this can indeed succeed. Well under 1 condition. I am only concerned with the design and the Kaftan Fes store. If we’re going to do this, there’s no one who can handle this better than you!”

That conversation took place a little over a year ago. Behind the scenes, we’ve been working hard on getting the right team together, designing the jewelry and trial dresses and much more. We wanted to start as well prepared as possible with the new adventure. During the preparations we have been very aware of the high bar that our father has set. Kaftan Fes bridal styling should become a subsidiary company that carries the character of Kaftan Fes fashion.

We are now ready to accept orders for weddings that take place from December 2018. We work with a very experienced and professional styling team. We have focused extra on service because we believe that bridal styling is not only about appearance but also
